Devotional 6 October 2025 How's your daily drive? If you have a car, from your first day you will be excited, testing it out in all the ways you can, playing and fighting with all it's bells and whistles and for some of us you will even start to know its specs and go as far as thinking of upgrades and accessories to come. But in general this is now your daily transportation. Now after some time you start to think a little differently about said vehicle and also start looking at other vehicles on the road, you notice there is different types of vehicles for different purposes, there's Suv's, bakkies, sedan, dyna trucks etc. All have different purposes and functions, some luxurious with every bell and whistle imaginable to provide absolute comfort others basic and utilitarian for hard work, other focus on fuel economy and safety to just accommodate point A to B trips every day. Point is people drive what suits their needs and what the can afford their vehicles are in different conditions, some old some new, others in great condition and maintained others not so good. But now here's the thought to ponder and meditate on, what type, condition vehicle would represent your soul? Is it maintained? What capabilities does it have? Is it a workhorse, a rough and rugged offloaded or is it a little hatchback? Now once you have imagined this vehicle, my next question is this! Is it full of dents and scratches from constant negligent driving? Is it kept clean and polished? Is it maintained and serviced? Is it running on the good fuel or the cheap stuff? In general how is the vehicle looking as a daily driver? Would you want to get into it? But now I want to flip the script on you and ask, in this vehicle where is Jesus sitting? Do you keep Him in the boot and only let Him out on a Sunday for a hour when you go to Church then put Him back in the boot? Is He a back seat passanger? Is He sitting in the passanger seat as a companion next to you thats driving? Or is He the driver? Now if at this stage you say Jesus is the one driving then I'll ask you, but where are you sitting? Are you in the front passanger seat riding shotgun, trying to tell Him where to drive, choosing music to play, talking or on your phone? Are you sitting at the back? Playing back seat driver? Giving your comments and responses to how His driving? Are you on your phone or sleeping maybe? Or are you being a good passanger sitting at the back? It's some thoughts to ponder on today. Thing is when the God created you He did so with a purpouse in mind, you've already been given a type of vehicle issued to you. But how that vehicle looks, runs and performs is up to you! But now I'll fall back to where is Jesus in the vehicle? For me His sitting in the passanger seat infront next to me, I'm driving Him around to wherever He wants to go, He has the maps, gps and knowledge. He chooses the music and the direction, He chooses when to stop, where to go. His great company and I'll talk to Him as much as I can, and every day I start by picking up Jesus and the Holy Spirit, P.S. the Holy Spirit is a real back seat driver but a good one and even when I don't agree I know I should listen. Fact is everyday I'm not just driving around aimlessly, but rather were on a journey and the final destination is Heaven! Yip straight to Dad's house. Now I can tell you, me I have a Grand Jeep Cherokee, it's 40yrs old, it's got some numbers on the odometer, it's seen some rough off road from when I wasn't listening to the Holy Spirit or Jesus so well, it wasn't always in the best running condition because I didn't always look at the Owners manual (Bible) when I shouldve but I knew better. But right now I know my Jeeps standing there clean and polished, it's got some upgrades, it's running right, and only premium sulphar diesel in the tank, so it's trail ready for the straight and narrow. Now with all this in mind, understand on this journey you can get a flat tyre, a mechanical issue, you may even have a accident. But the great thing is Jesus and the Holy Spirit is right there with you if you've picked them up. Your knowledge and understanding will grow if you read the manual (Bible) and where you don't get it the Holy Spirit will explain it. You need fuel anything? Jesus has got you! So today I encourage you to dwell on these question's and if your not happy with how things look maybe its time to do some cleaning, maintenance and repairs and ask God as His in control, your just the driver. Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Romans 8: 28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose." Stay blessed beloved and go with God
