The less travelled road, serving the marginalized urban community. Many refuse to do, but once you hear them telling their stories, you will see even Christ, the One His birth we celebrate, cares for them, love them, perform His wonderful works in their lives, and never forsake them. If Christ cares for them and never leave them alone as they are journeying through their wilderness, we too, must see this as our call. If Christ also come to bring shalom to them, we too, should follow and imitate Him. We must be willing to walk on this less travelled road instead of joining the crowds who choose to glorify the commercialized Christmas. We need to rethink of the true meaning of Christmas. Christ was born to save and lead us out of the darkness to His marvelous light. And we are commanded to bring His light to those who are still living in darkness, who are journeying through the wilderness, that they too, might see His light and experience His Shalom. May we not be deceived by the commercialized and self-satisfying Christmas, but, as the Shepherds bow and worship before the new born King, let our hearts be filled with the great longing to worship Him, “O, Come Let Us Adore Him,” let this be the song of our hearts. As the wise men worship by giving their best and most appropriate gifts to Christ, let us, too, come with our best and most appropriate gift to our Savior. “Loving your neighbour, giving to the least in our community,” let this be the practiced lifestyle if we want to welcome Jesus be born in our hearts. “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus, Born to set Thy people free. From our fears and sins release us, Let us find our rest in Thee.” May this be your experience as you welcome Christmas. Blessings!
